Richard Holstein

FAITHORN — Richard “Dick” Holstein, 78, Faithorn, passed away on Sunday March 17, 2024 in Appleton, Wis. with his son Brad and daughter Kelly at his side.

He was born on March 31, 1945 in Milwaukee, the son of the late Edward A. Holstein Jr. and Dorothy H. (Stoneman) Holstein. On June 22, 1968, he married Karen E. (Rathke) Holstein in Milwaukee. He longed to be reunited with her in heaven and they are now together again.

Amongst his many different hobbies, Richard loved hunting, fishing, and playing cards, but most of all, he loved tending the wildlife and his land on his remote homestead along with his beloved Springer Spaniel Polly, family, and friends.

He is survived by his son, Bradley (Robyn) Holstein of Oshkosh, Wis., his daughter, Kelly (Gregg) Saunders of Portland, Ore., his sister, Karen (Holstein) DiPiazza of Chandler, Ariz., his grandson, Elias Saunders of Portland; as well as his nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his wife and parents.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Richard will be held April 27, at 11 a.m. Central time at the Faithorn United Methodist Church. A luncheon will follow services at the Faithorn Town Hall.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Richard Holstein’s name and directed to the Faithorn United Methodist Church.
