Muriel F. Willman

Muriel F. Willman

CRYSTAL FALLS — Muriel F. Willman, 95, passed away peacefully at her home in Crystal Falls on May 12, 2024, after a day surrounded by her closest family and friends.

Muriel was born on Oct. 29, 1928, to the late Harold and Frances (Keenan) Waldron.

Muriel graduated from Lady of The Lourdes High School in Marinette, Wis., in 1947. She later went on to attend and graduate from Oshkosh State Teachers College.

In 1951, she was recruited to teach at the Crystal Falls School by KW Schulze. Muriel often described this opportunity as “a chance to earn money for doing what she loved most, teaching.” She spent several years at the school, retiring in 1989.

Muriel married Gordon Willman, originally of Felch, and together they raised four sons, Jon, Brian, Gary and Rob Willman.

Muriel had a passion for serving others and was involved in several community groups, including various groups within the United Lutheran Church, Musicale Tea, Birthday Club, Tops, and was active within the Forest Park Schools.

Anyone who knew Muriel can attest to how much she valued time with her family and friends. She never missed an opportunity to be with those she loved most. For decades, she religiously went out for Friday fish fry with her lifelong friends Tony and Mary Albarello, Max and Nancy Woelffer, and Grace and Tom Williams along with regular coffee-clutch at Faye and Chet Fabri’s. Even throughout her 95th year of life, one could catch her gardening, boating, taking rides to camp, at her great-grandchildren’s sporting events or just out-and-about. She was truly an example of living life to the fullest and a blessing to so many who will miss her dearly.

Muriel is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Frances Waldron; her husband, Gordon Willman; two brothers, Harold Waldron and Russell Waldron; a sister, Marjorie Cooper; two sons, Jon Willman and Brian Willman; one granddaughter, Jennifer Ketola; and a very dear friend, Esther Kivimaki.

Muriel is survived by two sons, Gary (Brenda) Willman and Rob Willman (Sara Starr); a daughter-in-law, Karen Willman; one sister, Patricia Butch; nine grandchildren, Josh (Jen) Ketola, Tim (Maribel) Willman, Chris (Julia) Willman, Mike Willman (Shawn Houle), Gary (Stephanie) Willman, Heather (Parker) Carey, Jeff (Marlo) Willman, Lauren Willman, Ethan Willman, and Brody, Noah and Eden Starr; along with 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, May 16 at United Lutheran Church in Crystal Falls. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Pastor DJ Rasner will officiate.

Burial will take place at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in her memory.
