Frances A. Doberstein

She was born on Feb. 9, 1953, in Daggett, the daughter of the late Frank and Betty (Beaudoin) Frisque.

She graduated from Carney-Nadeau Public Schools in 1971 and married Edward Doberstein in Foster City, on Feb. 16, 1974. He preceded her in death in October of 2002.

Fran and Ed owned and operated Fidder’s Bar in Powers, for many years. Later she worked as a home health care aide in the Iron Mountain area. She was an original “Trekkie,” loving all of the Star Trek movies. She also enjoyed knitting, doing word search puzzles and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her sons, Willy and Peter Doberstein of Iron Mountain; siblings, Betty (Greg) Trudell of Escanaba; Rich Frisque of Bagley; Barb (Dave) Patz of Pound, Wis., and Kelly (John) Chapoton of Warren, Mich.; nieces and nephews, Kassaundra Kanagy of Bagley; Brooke (Brad) Kleikamp of Powers; Ray (Tabatha) Yoder of Pound, Wis.; Jennifer (Jason) Harvey of Coleman, Wis.; Melissa (Dakota) Lueskow of Peshtigo, Wis. and Jefferson and Conrad Chapoton, Warren. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Fran was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edward; special friend William Bilski; an infant brother, Norman; and sisters, Joyce, Brenda and Mary Ellen.

Fran battled Parkinson’s for many years and spent her last three years living at the Freeman Nursing Home in Kingsford. Her family would like to give special thanks to the caring staff for the love and attention that they bestowed upon her.

The family will hold a celebration of life for Fran at a later date.
