Janet “Jan” Fiorazo

KINGSFORD — Janet “Jan” Fiorazo, 93, of Kingsford passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Evergreen Assisted Living in Kingsford.

Jan was born Dec. 23, 1930, in Iron Mountain, daughter to the late Thomas and Angeline (Smalter) DeMille.

She graduated from Menominee High School before obtaining her bachelor’s of art degree in music and elementary education and a master’s of art degree in education from Northern Michigan University.

She married Arthur Fiorazo Aug. 8, 1953, in Menominee; he preceded her in death in 1987.

Jan was an elementary teacher with Niagara Public Schools for four years and with Breitung Township Schools for 27 years before retiring in 1987. She volunteered at St. Vincent De Paul Store and was a member of UCT, Pine Grove Country Club, the Women’s Club, Lady Elks, MARSP, AARP, First Lady 1992, MEA, NEA and St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Kingsford.

She is survived by her daughter, Wendy Bergeron of Christiansburg, Va.; her son, David (Rosanna) Fiorazo of DePere, Wis.; grandchildren, Samantha Jo Hearing and Bradley Bergeron; her great-grandchildren, Christian and Jackson Hearing; and a special Goddaughter, Julie Santi.

Along with her parents and husband, Art, Jan is preceded in death by a daughter, Lynda (George) Terrill, and a brother, Robert De Mille.

Donations may be made in Jan’s memory to the St. Vincent De Paul Store in Iron Mountain, St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Kingsford, Habitat for Humanity or the Dickinson County Cancer Unit Loan Closet.

Visitation will be 9 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2, at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain with a funeral service to follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Kingsford. Fr. Michael Woempner will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.
