Marion M. Vassar

She was born Oct. 21, 1931, in Florence, daughter of the late Rudolph and Stella (Stubinski) Johnson. She married Donald Vassar on May 28, 1949. He preceded her in death on July 29, 2007.

She loved to go fishing, picking berries, yard work, and spending time with her family.

Marion is survived by her 10 children, Vivian (Jim) Johnson of Crystal Falls, Lloyd (Josette) Vassar of Greendale, Wis., Donna (Jim) Gunville of Niagara, Wis., Debbie (John) Joslyn of Thomasville, Ga., Gary Vassar of Iron Mountain, Donald (Paula) Vassar of Florence, Rudy (Lisa) Vassar of Florence, Lawrence Vassar of Florence, Marion (Matt) D’Agostino of Florence, Steve Vassar of Florence; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Marion was preceded in death by two sons, Ronald and Neil Vassar.

The family would like to give a special thank you to their sister-in-law, Paula Vassar, for taking such wonderful care of their mother. They would also like to thank Laurie Baker, her extended daughter and friend, for taking such good care of her. The family is beyond grateful for the staff at Iron County Medical Care Facility.
