JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Nancy Marie (Loia) Peloso passed away peacefully with family at her side on June 12, 2024, at the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Jacksonville. She had celebrated her 97th birthday 10 days earlier.

Born June 2, 1927, in Iron River, to the late Angelo and Rosa (Cacciani) Loia. Nancy graduated from Iron River High School in 1945 and Brown Business School, Milwaukee in 1947.

She married Bruno Peloso of Caspian in 1949 at St. Agnes Catholic Church. They celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary on April 23, 2024. She was the bookkeeper for the family gas and oil business, Loia and Peloso Oil Co, retiring in 1982.

Nancy enjoyed her early retirement years. She and Bruno became “snowbirds”, living in Orange Park, Fla. during the winters and returning to Iron River for the summers. They especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the family cottage on Iron Lake. In 2019, they permanently moved to Florida.

Nancy was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and the women’s Altar Society. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crafting, playing cards and golfing at the Iron River Country Club. In her earlier years, she was a 4-H leader and member of the 20th Century Club.

She is survived by her husband, Bruno; and children, Judy (Alfred) Stapleton pf Orange Park and son, David of Iron River; daughter-in-law, Dawn Peloso Floyd of White Pine; grandchildren, Chad (Corey) Stapleton of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; Traci Peloso and Erin (Michael) Sanchez of White Pine; great-grandchildren, Desiree Tuomi, Rydar, Skylar and Mireya Sanchez; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her brother, Nello Loia and sister, Elda Loia Andreini.

A private service with interment at Resthaven Cemetery will be held at a later date.
