Orrin A. Nichols

He was born on Feb. 1, 1938, in Tipler, Wis., the son of the late Charles K. and Edna (Diehl) Nichols. He attended school in Tipler and Stambaugh High School.

Orrin married Melba Gill in November 1973 in Iron River. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2023.

He was a self-employed logger. Orrin was a family man and enjoyed raising his kids. Orrin also enjoyed restoring old vehicles and hanging out with his buddies in the garage and being outdoors. He was a very social person and liked visiting with people and was always there to lend a helping hand.

Orrin is survived by his wife, Melba; sons, Dale (Terry) Nichols of Long Lake, Wis., Bruce (Lisa) Nichols of Tipler, Richard (Hilda Garcia) Crall of Longmont, Colo., and Kenneth (Darlene Kay) Nichols of Norway; daughters, Angela Nichols of Iron River, Cheryl (Mike) Krasowski of Iron Mountain, and Gina (Scott) Russell of Otsego, Mich.; sisters, Sheila Kapusta of Iron River, and Audree Erickson of Ontonagon; granddaughters, Stephanie Nichols, Melanie Bosch, Jenna Nichols, and nine other grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

He was also preceded in death by his son, Randy Crall; brothers, Neil, George, Wayne, Dale, and Charles Nichols; and sisters, Lila Anderson and Dorothy Rasmussen.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 15, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Caspian Gaastra Fire Hall.
