Robert L. Christy

Robert was born Nov. 12, 1926, son of the late Rush and Anna (Larson) Christy. He was a 1944 graduate of Kingsford High School. He served in the Navy in World War II as seaman 1st class and the ship’s cook.

He married Naomi (Hammill) on May 24, 1958, at Grace United Methodist Church in Norway and she preceded him in death in 2006. Robert owned and operated Ball & Christy Furniture in Iron Mountain from 1953 until 2011.

Robert was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church. He was also active in the Iron Mountain Kingsford Rotary Club for 48 years. He was a member of the Masons and the Interstate Shrine Club.

Robert enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved to travel, had been on eight cruises, and was able to tour England and Scotland on his travels.

Robert is survived by his spouse, Shelby Anderson.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Scott Douglas Christy, and his twin brother, William Christy.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, July 1, at the First Presbyterian Church in Kingsford with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Pastor Robert Malsack will officiate. Burial will be at the Norway Township Cemetery.
