Betty Jean Larson

Betty was born June 2, 1928, in Harvey, Ill., daughter of Fred and Lula (Troutman) Nelson. She married Jack Larson on July 25, 1946, at Queen of Apostle Church in Riverdale, Ill., and he preceded her in death in 2008.

Betty volunteered at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center for many years and enjoyed crocheting, cooking, making ceramics and feeding and watching the deer and animals.

She also enjoyed her dogs, having had many bull mastiffs over the years, and she was an active member of St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Kingsford.

She is survived by her two grandsons, Kristopher Larson (Joshua) and Daniel Krug, both of Monticello, Ind.; five great-grandchildren, Brayden, Malena, Micah, Zander and Gianna Larson; a daughter-in-law, Linda Montet; a niece, Patricia Richmond; special friend and caregiver, Anna Forstrom; and special friend, Diane McGinnis.

In addition to her parents and husband, Jack, Betty was preceded in death by her son, John, and her poodle, Raisin.

A Graveside Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 22 in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park. Fr. Michael Woempner will officiate.
