Carol Ann Angeli

IRON RIVER — Carol Ann Angeli, 87, of Iron River, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2024, at Aspirus Iron River Hospital.

Carol Ann was born on Sept. 7, 1936, in Waukesha, Wis., the daughter of the late Carl and Virginia (Toner) Meier. She graduated from Fort Atkinson, Wis. High School with the Class of 1954. She then attended St. Mary School of Nursing in Rochester, Minn. graduating in 1957.

Carol Ann married Richard Angeli on Aug. 23, 1958, at St. John the Evangelist Church in Rochester. The couple made their home in Iron River where she spent their first several years together as a homemaker raising her four young children. She resumed her nursing career in 1973 working primarily in the Iron County Hospital System, retiring as the OR Department Manager in 1998.

Carol Ann enjoyed reading in the solitude of her home, entertaining her family and friends at The Angeli Farm, summer weekends on Hagerman Lake with her brother Jim’s family and her special winter Friday nights at the kitchen table with her dearest friends Annie and Franzie. In retirement, she volunteered at St. Agnes Catholic Church as well as St. Vincent DePaul, and she truly enjoyed her long afternoons at George Young’s golfing with Max, Carolynn, Nancy, Josie and whomever else she could get to join her.

Richard preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her brother, James E. Meier.

She is survived by her sons, Peter (Carol Ann) Angeli of Vulcan, Rick (Peggy) Angeli of Iron River, and Paul (Eileen) Angeli of Little Canada, Minn.; daughter, Mary (Brett Gerou) Sparapani of Rapid River; brother, Richard A. Meier of Fort Atkinson; grandchildren, Sarah Sparapani, Anna (John Lepzig) Sparapani, Paul (Brianna) Angeli, Erin (Gavin) Porter, Dr. Christina (Jim Daly) Angeli, OTD, Dr. Allison (Jimmy Brooks) Angeli, MD, Hannah Angeli, and Joey Angeli all of whom she cherished dearly; and five great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews and extended family members.

The family wishes to thank Dr. H. Fuentes-Bayne and team at Mayo Clinic, Dr. G. Morel and team at Marshfield Clinic – Dickinson, Dr. Donald Patton and the entire care team at Aspirus Clinics and Hospital Iron River for their expertise, professionalism and consistent coordination in Mom’s care. The family also wishes to thank Mom’s close friend Jeanne for her frequent visits and personal taxi services whenever needed.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 21, from 5 to 7 p.m. followed by the Rosary at Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 22, at noon at St. Agnes Catholic Church with Fr. Daniel Dapaah to offer the Mass of Christian Burial.

Interment will be in Iron River Cemetery immediately following the funeral services.
