Eileen Zeugner
VULCAN — Eileen Jean Zeugner, 88, of Vulcan, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2024 at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay, Wis.
She was born on July 12, 1936, in Norway, the daughter of the late Frederick and Ellie (Carlson) Welch.
Eileen graduated from Vulcan High School in 1954. Eileen was joyfully married to Jim Zeugner on May 18, 1957, in the Vulcan Methodist Church.
Eileen worked as a secretary throughout her life. She was part of the Wisconsin Electric office crew and loved them all, continuing to enjoy get togethers throughout her life. She was part of the Lodal family also and worked there with some of her dearest friends and with her brother and husband for a time, she in the office and them in the plant. She loved a good giggle. She took time off to be the best mom and grandma, ever.
In later years she was a secretary and teller at D & N Bank also in Kingsford and enjoyed friendships there. She took pride in her work but cared most about people. She has nurtured many friendships through the years and modeled loyalty and love. Special appreciation also for lifelong friends of which she had so many.
Mom and dad were regular customers at the breakfast spots and especially attached to the wonderful folks at Mike’s on Main who loved her so well. Every Friday night they would be in their spot always reserved for them.
Early in her adult years, she would go with her parents, husband and friends to “Pinecrest” and sing with dad who played the guitar while the rest of the family and friends put on services and gave out hugs and care to the residents. She was a model of servanthood.
Eileen grew up with her brother and in a close family of cousins and she has loved them all and shared life with all of them. Her fondest memories were of growing up together, going to “the farm” and helping with the work and then having fun. Her brother and parents were remembered and cherished every day. She also “adopted” our friends and others as her own and many shared her with us which made us so very proud to call her mom.
She was the apple of dad’s eye and their love story was an example of commitment and devotion. Dad will miss her most of all. They have loved each other well.
She was a member first of the Vulcan Methodist Church and later Grace United Methodist Church and Grace Global Methodist Church in Norway. She served with her dear friends, taught Sunday School, and loved God and tried to serve him as He would want.
She and dad spent years riding horses with friends and family, she loved to ski and skate, to go for walks, ride bikes, and in later years, attended every sporting event and school she could. She and dad were regulars in the parades around Norway and rode trails with her family.
She was known for her contagious laugh, unconditional love, and unwavering loyalty to her family. Her faith will live on in her family and friends. She will meet up with her most cherished loved ones and friends in heaven and her example and faith will be with us always.
