John ‘Jack’ E. Leppanen
FLORENCE, Wis. — John “Jack” E. Leppanen, 79, of Florence, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Florence Health Services in Florence.
Jack was born on Feb. 22, 1945, in Pontiac, Mich., to the late Waino and Joyce (Trudell) Leppanen. He was raised in Florence and attended Florence High School. Jack enlisted in the United States Army and served in Alaska, where he continued to live for many years.
Jack married Mara Lee and had one daughter, Paula. He enjoyed watching the Packers and Cubs, playing horseshoes, darts, and pool, picking berries, dancing, reading, and riding his bike. Jack was a kind, gentle soul who was always willing to lend a helping hand.
He is survived by his daughter, Paula; one brother, Bucko Soderberg; and four sisters, Deanna Hughes, Bernadette Sjoquist, Brenda Mohr, and Alene Sleeter; cousins, many nieces and nephews; and special friends, David and Chad Bonetti.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by an infant son, Scott Leppanen; stepfather, Alfred Soderberg; and sisters, Florence Liddle, Adrienne Hoehne, and Sharon Moratti.
The family would like to thank Florence Health Services for the care Jack received over the last several months.
