CRYSTAL FALLS — Warren Maki, 85, of Crystal Falls, passed away on July 1, 2024, at UP Health Systems in Marquette.
Warren was born in Crystal Falls, to Leo and Lillian Maki on Dec. 6, 1938. He attended schools in Crystal Falls and graduated from Crystal Falls High School. He later graduated from Michigan Tech University with a bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering.
He married Christine (Teena) Mello on Sept. 5, 1959, in Eagle Harbor.
His employment history included being a Corvette plastics development engineer which eventually led to him starting his own plastics injection molding company in Sault Ste. Marie in 1977. He eventually moved to Crystal Falls, and opened up Northwoods Molders. Most recently he was the treasurer of St. Mark’s Episcopal church and the Amasa Senior Center. He loved reading, Sudoku puzzles and watching MSNBC.
Warren is survived by Christene Maki, Bill and Tressie, Ray and Sawyer, EJ and Kathy, Jeanelle and Bill, Richard Maki, Nicole, Travis, Kyle, Derek, Liam, Sage, Riaghan, Hutchinson, Mariah, Ty, Robert, Christin, Jake, Erika, Gina, Ashley, Zach, Hadley, Axel, Chloe, Oliver, Grant, Aliva, Crystal, Liliana, Robert Jr., Blaise, Lillian, Haley, Cordell, Blair, Cale, Kay and Rayven.
Warren is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Visitation will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal church in Crystal Falls, on Saturday, July 13, at 10 a.m. followed by funeral services at 11 a.m.
Burial will take place at the Hematite Cemetery in Amasa.
Memorials may be made to Amasa Senior Center and the Northwoods Animal Shelter in Iron River.
