Bruno Peloso

ORANGE PARK, Fla. — Bruno Mathew Peloso passed away peacefully on Aug. 19, 2024, at the Haven Hospice Care Center in Orange Park, Fla. He was 98 years old.

Born Sept. 29, 1925, in Caspian, to the late Silvio and Regina (Leonardi) Peloso, Bruno graduated from Stambaugh High School in 1943.

He married Nancy Marie Loia of Iron River in 1949 at St. Agnes Catholic Church. Prior to Nancy’s passing in June, they celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary with family on April 23, 2024.

Bruno served in the U.S. Navy. He was co-owner of the Loia and Peloso Oil Company for many years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 21, and St. Agnes Catholic Church.

Bruno was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed hunting at the family camp on the Paint River, fly fishing on local streams, snowmobiling, and golfing. His favorite sports teams were the Green Bay Packers and Jacksonville Jaguars.

After retiring, Bruno and Nancy became “snowbirds”, living in Orange Park, during the winters and returning to Iron River for the summers. They especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the family cottage on Iron Lake. In 2019, they permanently moved to Florida to be near their daughter and son-in-law.

Survivors include his children, Judy (Alfred) Stapleton of Orange Park and son, David of Iron River; daughter-in-law, Dawn Peloso Floyd od White Pine; grandchildren, Chad (Corey) Stapleton of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; Traci Peloso and Erin (Michael) Sanchez of White Pine; great-grandchildren, Desiree Tuomi, Rydar, Skylar and Mireya Sanchez; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Nancy, Bruno was preceded in death by his brother, James Peloso and sister, Inez Peloso.

A private service with interment at Resthaven Cemetery will be held at a later date.
