Todd Glanville
NORWAY — Todd Allen Glanville, 58 of Norway, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 25, 2024, after a lengthy and complicated battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born on March 6, 1966, in Marquette, the son of Elizabeth (Ziemnick) and the late Richard Glanville. Todd grew up on Hamilton Avenue in Kingsford, where he and his longtime friend Chris were always causing a ruckus.
Todd proudly served in the United States Marine Corps following graduation from Kingsford High School in 1984. He was stationed in Japan, South Korea and California during his time in the USMC. After honorable discharge, he attended Northern Michigan University where he would meet his future wife, Mary.
Todd worked as a boiler operator at Billerud (Verso) for over 30 years. Todd and Mary raised their daughters, Nicole and Kimberly, at their home in Norway.
Todd was larger than life. His smile and laughter would fill the room and his bear hugs were legendary. He was a loving husband, father, loved being a grandpa and a great friend. While he could come off as intimidating, he was one of the kindest people you would ever know. He was a committed Minnesota Vikings fan and was notorious for giving Green Bay Packer fans a hard time.
He was an avid sportsman who loved hunting and fishing. His favorite place in the world was playing cribbage at camp. Todd was well known for his spaghetti sauce and loved sharing it with his friends and family.
He was a dedicated parishioner at St. Mary Catholic Church for 28 years, but could often be found ushering at 6 a.m. Mass at St. Barbara Catholic Church. He grew deeper in his faith during his illness and leaned on the Lord until he was called home to the Lord’s arms. We will cherish his memory and miss him always.
Todd is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mary; daughters, Nicole (Travis) Moon and Kimberly Glanville; grandson, Murphy Moon; mother, Betty Glanville; sister Julie (David) Santi; parents-in-law, Jim and Nancy Block; brothers-in-law, James (Lisa Mulder) Block, John (Dulce) Block, and David (Heather Burson) Block; sister-in-law, Anne (Brad) Perala; numerous nieces and nephews; and lifelong friend Chris (Michelle) Rexses.
He is preceded in death by father, Richard “Dick” Glanville.
Todd’s family would like to thank Fr. Marty Flynn and Fr. Mark McQuesten for their spiritual care and friendship, OSF Hospice, Optalis Health & Rehabilitation, Dr. Morel and his team as well as the staff at MMC-Dickinson for their exceptional and compassionate care of Todd.
Family would suggest memorial donations be made to the Dickinson County Cancer Loan Closet, in Todd’s name.
