Virginia A. ‘Ginny’ Steele

Ginny was born on Aug. 8, 1954, in Iron River, daughter of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Grant) Gagne. She was a 1972 graduate of Kingsford High School.

On May 14, 1974, Ginny married David LeRoy Steele in Iron Mountain; the two shared 37 years of marriage before Dave’s passing in 2011.

Ginny was talented in so many ways, from running her own nail salon for many years, where she could be a friend, an artist, AND therapist all in one setting, to being an extraordinary cook, and even doing self-taught wood working. She also painted lovely pictures of cute animals that just came into her head in an instant!

Additionally, Ginny had a green thumb that would rival any TV or internet influencer, and she loved red geraniums. She was the rock of her family, especially in recent years for her daughter, Char. She had a warm and wildly creative spirit and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Left to cherish Ginny’s memory are her devoted daughter, Charlotte (Scott) Bray of Kingsford; three grandsons; brother, Patrick; sister, Patricia; constant and faithful companion, her dog, Lucas; special grandcat, Nelson; as well as many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention all by name.

In addition to her parents and loving husband, Dave, Ginny was also preceded in death by her beloved son, Adam.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Aug. 13, at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. A Memorial Service will follow at 1 p.m. Msgr. Joseph Gouin will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
