Donald W. Jones

Don was born Sept. 3, 1971, in Hibbing, Minn., to Walter and Linda Jones. Don graduated in 1989 from Kingsford High School. After graduating, Don worked mostly as a mechanic, and was most recently employed at Florence Hardwoods, where he was known as a dedicated and hard worker.

Don truly enjoyed racing at Norway Speedway (#D15), coaching his sons in wrestling and hockey, watching The New York Jets, and spending time with his mom, children, grandchildren, and friends. He recently celebrated his 53rd birthday at the Mine Ponds where he enjoyed spending Labor Day and Memorial Day fishing and camping with those he loved most.

Don married Christy Boettcher, and later married, Debbie Jones, who preceded him in death; along with his brother, Scott; his father, Walter; stepfather, Paul; and his grandparents.

Don leaves behind his four children, whom he was so amazingly proud of, Cameron Jones (Autumn) of New London, Wis., Brittany Jones (Jerry) of Florence, Danny Jones of Auburn, Wass., and Alex Jones of New London; his mother, Linda Cahee of Iron Mountain; his brother, Jim Jones (Nikki) of Kingsford; and his stepbrother, Pauly of Chicago. Don also leaves behind his five beloved grandchildren, whom he truly loved and cherished every minute he spent with each of them, ranging from fishing, playing Barbie dolls or throwing a ball, Karson (9), Scarlett and Sophia (8), Camdon (6), and Gracie (5); numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews, along with his loved dog Ralphie, and his fair prize fish George. Don held a special place in his heart for additional family and friends: Justin, Ron, Amber, Scotty, Elsa, Nick, Bill, Larry, Brenda, Misty and many others whom he considered family.

Don will be truly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him and his contagious personality. Don would put a smile on everyone’s face who had met him, and he always made you feel special.

Visitation will be held 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024, at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain, with a service to follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. A luncheon will follow.
