Elayne LaCourt
IRON MOUNTAIN — Elayne Virginia (Groleau) LaCourt, 103, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sept. 8, 2024.
Elayne was born at home in Sidnaw, Mich., on March 27, 1921, the seventh and youngest child of the late Fred and Alice (Goyer) Groleau.
She married Jim LaCourt in 1939, and they resided in Iron Mountain, spending 62 years together.
Jim passed away in 2001; shortly after, Elayne moved to Green Bay, Wis. to be closer to family.
She is survived by two daughters, Diane (Roger) Wendorf of Port Washington, Wis., and Pamela Supa of Green Bay; a son, Timothy LaCourt of Houston; a brother-in-law, Jon (Debbie) LaCourt of Iron Mountain; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Elayne was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her siblings.
Throughout her life, Elayne was a member of St. Mary and St. Joseph’s Church in Iron Mountain. She worked several years at the First National Bank. Elayne loved a good card game; you name it, and she’d try it out. Later in life her bridge partners were her joy. She was a great cook and baker, and was proudest of her family. Her heaven will smell like French Macaroni baking in the kitchen.
Elayne loved her husband, Jim, and has spent the last several years planning to be together with him again. Their ashes will be combined in a single urn to be buried in Cemetery Park.
The family will welcome friends to say goodbye to Elayne and Jim at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 11 a.m. to noon with a brief remembrance to follow. In lieu of flowers, please support a worthy charity.
Condolences may be expressed to the family of Elayne Virginia (Groleau) LaCourt online at www.ernashfuneralhomes.com.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the funeral arrangements.
