Herman Kleiman
POWERS — Herman Kleiman, 77, of Powers, passed away Sept. 24, 2024 at home.
He was born on April 11, 1947, in Wilson, the son of the late Herman Sr. and Rosella Kleiman. He married Lorraine (Smith) Kleiman in Bark River on Dec. 9, 1967.
After graduating from Powers High School in 1965, Herman joined the Army National Guard. Upon completion of his military service, he got started in the logging industry. He subcontracted under St. John Forest Products for numerous years. He and his wife also owned and operated the Redwood Junction Restaurant in Powers for 25 years.
Herman had a passion for hunting, football, basketball, and baseball. He considered Nov. 15 (opening day of deer season) a sacred day. There was nothing that was going to stop him from hunting. He was so serious about deer hunting that nobody was allowed to use perfume, cologne, or hairspray in his house during deer season. Herman also loved attending the North Central Jets sporting events to watch his grandchildren compete. These games brought him an abundance of joy for many years.
He is survived by his son, Scott Kleiman of Powers; daughter, Ann Kleiman-Zeller (Jeff) of Boulder Junction, Wis.; grandson, Andrew Kleiman (Meagan) of Arizona; grandson, Allen Kleiman of Powers; grandson, Robert Kleiman (Paige) of Arizona; granddaughter, Angela Kleiman (Macki) of Texas; grandson, Marine CPL Luke Kleiman of Silverdale, Washington; great-grandsons, Xander Kleiman and Easton Kleiman; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as his cat/best friend Rel.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine, his parents, a brother, Ron, sister-in-law, Evelyn, and brother-in-law, Jim.
Friends and family are invited to a “Celebration of Life” on Tuesday, Oct. 1, from 3 to 6 p.m. Central time at R Place (formerly LaBelle’s) in Powers.
The family would like to thank OSF Healthcare & Hospice for their compassionate care.
