Donald T. Schneider

Don was born March 27, 1944, in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., son of the late Theodore and Madeline (Neuens) Schneider. He graduated from Florence High School in 1962 and served in the United States National Guard for six years.

Don went to work for their family business, Schneider’s Iron & Metal, and eventually purchased the business with his brother, Ron. They operated the business for many years, eventually retiring and selling in 2014.

Don was on the Aurora Township Volunteer Fire Department for 30 years. He enjoyed gardening, flowers, woodworking and hobby farming. Don was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting.

He is survived by his significant other, Linda Sternhagen of Aurora; a son, Eric Schneider (Brooke) of Iron Mountain; a daughter, Amanda Schneider (Charlie) of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two grandchildren, Logan and Landon; a brother, Ron (Patti) Schneider of Aurora; and a nephew, Aaron (Miranda) Schneider and their daughter, Kandace.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by an infant brother, Alfred and a nephew, Ben Schneider.

There will be a Celebration of Life for family and close friends held from noon until 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2 at Don’s home.
