KINGSFORD — Jacqueline Louise Lemin, 81, of Kingsford passed away peacefully Monday, Oct. 28, 2024, at home surrounded by family.

Jackie was born in Iron Mountain on Friday, Nov. 13, 1942, the daughter of the late Charles and Verna (Mitchell) Balzarini. She grew up on the Northside and graduated from Iron Mountain High School.

She then went on to earn her bachelor of arts degree in education at Michigan State University.

She taught Spanish in the Lansing area before returning to the U.P. where she would teach for 33 years at Breitung Township Schools. The majority of those years were spent teaching second grade.

Jackie married Carl F. Lemin Jr. on June 15, 1973, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 7, 2021. Together they enjoyed couples league bowling, road trips to the casino, traveling to visit their children and relatives and taking in as many sporting events as they could. Brewers games and Spartans games were their favorite.

Throughout the years Jackie also enjoyed volleyball league, ceramics, crafting and jewelry-making, spending time outdoors walking in nature, and planting her flowers. Jackie had a deep love for all animals especially her many pets throughout the years including her beloved dogs and the many deer she would meet on her walks and had as pets as a young girl.

She also loved reading and frequent trips to the library. Jackie enjoyed shopping, craft shows, movies, car rides and breakfast with the people dear to her. She had a joy of life and kindness like no other. Her faith was strong and she loved volunteering at the Carmelite Monastery until her health started to decline.

Jackie is survived by her children, Debby (John) Bray, Laura Krueger, Jon Lemin, Don Lemin, Tom (Yvonne) Lemin and Marie Lemin; her grandchildren, John Bray Jr., Bryan (Bridget) Bray, Steve (Anne) Grailer Jr., Dalton (Danielle) Bessler, Logan Lemin, Erin Lemin, Nick (Heather) Lemin, Nathan (Hannah) Lemin, Andrew Lemin, Amanda Lemin, and Mya Mays; her great-grandchildren, Brianna, Jordan, Miley, Shelby, Alexis, Lauren, Koen, Bronson, Nolan, Landon, Marshall, and Victor; her sisters-in-law, Marie Balzarini and Judy Sundblad; daughter-in-law, Mic Lemin; cousins, nieces and nephews; her special friends, Charlotte (Leon) Mattord, Sally Santi, Donna Mannigel, Patty Hord, Lynn and Joe Reddinger.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her dear older brother, Chas Balzarini; in-laws, Carl and Katherine (Dellangelo) Lemin; sister-in-law, Shirley Sundblad; brothers-in-law, Stuart Sundblad and Robert Sundblad; niece, Pamela Gilbertie; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Lemin; granddaughter, Brianne Lemin; friends, Judy Johnson and Marcie Staple; many aunts and uncles including her Uncle, Art Mitchell with whom she had a very special relationship.

The family would like to express extreme gratitude to Dr. Beth Schroeder and her staff for their continued care during Jackie’s ongoing health battles over the years. Also a big thank you to her caregiver, Amanda Schuirmann with whom she would love to see and always enjoy a good laugh with.

Her neighbors and many others that supported her throughout the years are so appreciated and evidence of the amazing woman, wife, mother, grandmother, friend, cousin, aunt, sister, niece and teacher that she was.

In honor of Jackie’s wishes, there will be no funeral services.
