Patrick Quick

IRON MOUNTAIN — Patrick Robert Quick, 66, of Iron Mountain passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024, in the comfort of his own home.

Patrick was born in Iron Mountain on Sept. 1, 1957, the son of the late LeRoy and LaVerne (Chamberlain) Quick.

He went to Kingsford High School where he met and fell in love with Cathy Tippett. They graduated in 1975 and married two years later on July 23, 1977 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Quinnesec. They just recently celebrated their 47th anniversary. He was a member of St. Mary’s until it closed then going to American Martyrs Catholic Church.

Pat started his career as a truck driver at UP (US) Special Delivery right out of high school and worked there for 40 years retiring in 2014. He loved his job, traveling across country until having his family and started to drive locally. He made special connections with all of the people at his stops. He knew most people in town. He was such a happy guy. Pat had a love for people and always made them feel welcome.

He enjoyed being in a bowling league, going out to camp, hunting, fishing, watching the races, and riding his motorcycle. Pat was a founding member of the LongRiders MC and seized every chance he could to jump on his Harley and ride. Playing dice and card games, especially cribbage was one of his favorite pastimes. Pat really enjoyed taking pictures of personalized license plates, decoding them and sending the pictures to others.

He would also play games on his phone such as Roblox and angry birds with his grandchildren, they loved sitting with their grandpa and getting high scores. Patrick had a talent for building model cars and was an avid collector of coins, pens, and hats.

Patrick will always be lovingly remembered for his big heart and larger than life presence. He always had a smile on his face and made people around him feel happy even strangers with his funny jokes. He would do anything for you maybe with a fork in his shirt pocket or a Frozen Coke in hand.

Patrick will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 47 years, Cathy Quick; four children, Roy (Catherine) Quick, Robert Quick, Amy (Tim) Fang, and Ann Quick (significant other, Bobby Nordell); six grandchildren, Kiara, Arya, Elijah, James, Miles, and Reese; beloved family pet, Caramel Macchiato; two siblings, Linda Granquist (finance, Rick) and Lana (Tim) McConnell; in laws, Linda (Wesley) Lieburn, Laurie (Tom) Moln, Joe Tippett, Sally (Frank) Bernard; several nieces and nephews and many other family and friends.
