Terry Mott
NORWAY — Terry John Mott, 71, of Norway, died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2024, at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay, Wis.
He was born March 12, 1953, in Norway, the son of the late Alfred and Marie (VanDamme) Mott. Terry graduated from Norway High School in 1971.
He married Debra Alleva on Sept. 27, 1975, in St. Barbara Catholic Church in Vulcan. She preceded him in death on Jan. 23, 2002.
While Terry had many different jobs throughout his life, including joining the police force, his passion was mechanics. This passion led him to become very involved with the Norway Speedway. He began in 1967 as a corner worker while the track was still dirt and progressed to racing in the modified class. Terry’s most well-known car was a Cadillac Seville lovingly known as the “Welfare Caddy.”
From racing his car, Terry joined the board and held various other positions at the track. In 2023 he was inducted into the Norway Speedway Hall of Fame.
Terry is survived by his daughter, Lynn (JR) Sadowski of Norway; son, Thomas (Carissa) Mott of Ironwood; very special friend and life partner of the last 16 years, Berdina Harrison of Norway; brother, David (Jeannie) Mott of Norway; half-sister, Danielle Mott of Iron Mountain; and nephew, Tim (Karen) Mott of Iron River.
Family will greet friends on Tuesday, Nov. 5 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Ortman Funeral Home in Norway.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Fr. Marty Flynn, pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church in Norway, officiating.
Interment will follow at the Norway Township Cemetery.
