Geraldine ‘Gerry’ Loverich

WEST SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Geraldine “Gerry” Loverich, 94, of West Saint Paul, Minn., formerly of Iron Mountain and South Saint Paul, Minn., passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024, with family by her side.

She was born in Chicago on Jan. 8, 1930, to William “Dutchy” and Ann Tirschel. At the age of 9, she relocated with her family to Iron Mountain, where she said her life truly began. She loved it there. Gerry graduated high school in 1948 from Iron Mountain High School. After graduation, she worked with her dad in his bar, as well as with her brother, Jim.

During this time, she met the love of her life, Tony Loverich. They married on Nov. 15, 1952, which, unfortunately, was the first day of deer hunting season in Michigan. To accommodate family members, she postponed her reception by a week! When Tony started a job in Minnesota, they eventually settled in South Saint Paul with their two daughters, Susan and Maribeth.

Gerry had a passion for playing the piano and organ. She also loved reading, crocheting, puzzles, and knitting. She was a wonderful homemaker, spending long hours in the kitchen, and nobody ever left her home hungry. Unfortunately, in her later years, she began to lose her eyesight, which made it difficult to continue with some of her favorite activities.

Along with her parents, William and Ann Tirschel, she is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Anthony Loverich, and her brother, James.

She is survived by her two daughters, Susan (Philip) Keen of West Saint Paul, Minn., and Maribeth Ashley of South Saint Paul, Minn.; two granddaughters, Catrina (Rose) Copp and Amanda (Brad) Stevens; two great-grandchildren, Liam and Lily; her brother-in-law, Robert (Kathy) Loverich; as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Walker Methodist Westwood Ridge in West Saint Paul, Minn., for their loving care and kindness over the years. A heartfelt thank you as well to Allina Hospice for the exceptional care they provided since the beginning of the year.

Visitation will be held 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7, at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain, with a service to follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Father Janusz Romanek will officiate. Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.

Condolences may be expressed to the family of Geraldine “Gerry” Loverich online at www.ernashfuneralhomes.com.

The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the arrangements.
