Douglas Groop

He was born on Dec. 17, 1953, in Crystal Falls, to the late Howard and Linda (Mills) Groop.

Douglas spent his entire life in the Crystal Falls area and graduated from Forest Park High School. After high school, he went on to work for West Wood Supper Club, then the local sawmill, before finishing his career doing carpentry work.

Douglas was an avid Green Bay Packers fan who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending his time with his family.

He is survived by his son, Brandon (Tisha) Groop of Crystal Falls; daughters, Deana Groop of Marquette and Mary Groop of Crystal Falls; aunt, Diana Bertola of Crystal Falls; sisters, Diana (Jim) Waligursky of Crystal Falls, Sherry Hegstrom of Crystal Falls, and Cindy (Tom) Dean of Riverdale, Mich., grandchildren, Kaylee Cadotte of Crystal Falls, Brody McBee of Crystal Falls, and Spencer Groop of Crystal Falls; and by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Douglas is preceded in death by his grandparents, Tressa and Ernest West and Everett and Mary Groop.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
