Rachel R. Ketola

Rachel was born in the house in Amasa on April 2, 1964, to Arthur and Sonya Ketola and lived there all her life. A Forest Park High School graduate, Class of 1982, Rachel worked as a CNA at the Iron River Care Center for 35 years, her only job!

She took great pride in her work, not only showing loyalty and dedication, but she was also very well liked by all staff members, residents, and their families. If not for health reasons, she would still be working there today.

Rachel was well known in the community, always kind and compassionate, and willing to help others; you could count on her if anything was needed or had to be done, and she never asked for anything in return. She had a great sense of humor, and you knew it was her just by her laugh. She had the best smile ever and was always happy. She truly was a beautiful person.

She enjoyed spending time with family, going to the casing, playing bingo, going to yard sales and decorating for holidays. She also enjoyed watching all the wildlife that came into her yard. She always had a dog or cat to keep her company. Rachel was never home but always on the go. She spent many days with Donna, going places and doing things. Grass never had a chance to grow under her feet.

Rachel is survived by her sisters, Christine (Ken) Peltoma of Iron Mountain, Arline Hund of Crystal Falls, and Donna (Jamie) Sjoquist of Amasa, along with nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, Sonya and Arthur Ketola; her sister, Nancy Pete; and her nephew, John Ketola.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Amasa, followed by a memorial service at noon at the church. Pastor D.J. Rasner will officiate.
