KINGSFORD — Michael Hunt of Kingsford passed away on Monday, March 10, 2025, in Wesley Chapel, Fla.
He was born on Oct. 3, 1943, in Springfield, Ohio, to his parents, Flavil and Gladys.
Michael was a man of faith and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Iron Mountain. A friend once described him as a “salt of the earth” kind of man — an apt tribute to his unwavering integrity and compassion.
Michael dedicated his career to the paper industry, working tirelessly for 38 years in paper mills. He began his journey at St. Regis Paper in Rhinelander, Wis. and retired from Wausau Paper in 2009.
Beyond his professional life, Michael enjoyed his hobbies. He was an avid golfer who relished time on the course. He was a talented woodworker. Many mornings began at the kitchen table working a crossword puzzle and eyeing the birds feeding near the window. Winters were spent at Grove Ridge in Florida, where he enjoyed warm weather and good company.
Michael’s greatest love was his family. He often remarked that he knew he would marry Charlene the moment he saw her — a sentiment that proved true as they shared 59 wonderful years together.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Charlene; sisters, Gail and Judy; daughters, Caroline (Keith) Graves, Stefanie (Josh) Hunt, Marcia (Randy) Crosson, and Kim (Hobie) Stamper; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Steve and Jim; infant son, Jeffrey; and grandson, Justin. His brother, Jon passed away March 19, 2025. Memorial services to be announced at a later time.
