JOHN GUSTAVSON
NORWAY — John Nils Gustavson, 73, of Norway, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson in Iron Mountain.
He was born in Littlefork, Minn. on Aug. 20, 1951 the son of the late Nils and Eleanor (Palas) Gustavson of Browns Corner, Minn.
John graduated from Falls Senior High School in 1969 and continued his schooling at Thief River Falls Vocational School to become an electrician.
He married Eunice Dvergsten on March 18, 1972 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in International Falls, Minn.
John started working in 1971 at the Boise Cascade papermill and moved to Norway in 1985 to work for the Quinnesec papermill until he retired in 2014.
He was a proud grandfather and enjoyed attending the grandchildren’s activities, working on many projects in his shop, gardening, yard work and his dog Charlie.
John is survived by his wife of 53 years Eunice; daughter Debra (Leonard) Switzer III.; son Rick Gustavson; grandchildren Leonard Switzer IV, Josephine Switzer, Carter Gustavson and Dalton Gustavson; many nieces and friends.
He was preceded in death by his sister Louise Stafne and brother Jim Gustavson.
Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 22, at the Ortman Funeral Home in Norway.
A memorial service will be held in International Falls, Minn. on a later date and will be announced.
Interment will be held at the Norway Township Cemetery.
