Betty L. Kennedy

LAKEVILLE, Minn. — Betty L. Kennedy, 96, passed away peacefully of natural causes on June 26, 2025, at home in Lakeville, Minn. Her husband of 77 years, Terry, was by her side.

Betty was born in Florence, Wis., and lived in several states as Terry was frequently transferred with Montgomery Ward. After his retirement they moved back to their hometown area of Iron Mountain for 33 wonderful years. They loved their home but needed to move closer to family and found a nice place in Lakeville in 2020.

Betty had a love for God and her church, loved gardening, and had a gift for hospitality. Her positive attitude was an inspiration to many. Her faith was a comfort to her and a blessing to others. In the end, while sad, her passing turned into a beautiful experience for her close family. She lived a long full life and was looking forward to being with God. Her contentment and attitude softened a sad event into a glimpse of hope in the transition of death.

Betty is survived by her husband, who misses her dearly. Terry referred to Betty as “My Buddy” and she was for 80 years, since he first met her in high school. They have four children, Lana Carnahan, Pat (and Jim) Fimmen, Terry Kennedy and Kelly (and Vickie) Kennedy. She left a positive legacy with her children, and a big impact on the world with 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
