NORWAY — Eloise A. Martz, 78, of Norway, passed away Sunday, Aug. 17, 2025, at the Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson.

Eloise was born in Marquette on Dec. 1, 1946, daughter of the late Earl and Laura (Wittler) Grimes. She was confirmed on June 5, 1960, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church by Pastor Bertram J. Naumann. Eloise graduated from Graveraet/Marquette High School in 1964.

The birth of her daughter motivated her to continue her education at Northern Michigan University.

After graduating from NMU, Eloise worked for nearly 20 years at Champion International. She had a very creative and observant side that she expressed through her sewing and photography. Eloise especially enjoyed exploring local waterfalls for her photography. She also enjoyed swimming at the YMCA or cozying up at home with a good book. Eloise possessed a quiet strength that was apparent to all those around her.

Eloise will be deeply missed by her daughter, Denise (Corey) Jackson; grandson Joshua Jackson; three siblings, David (Sue) Grimes, Gail Nesbit and Paul Grimes; brother-in-law David Schierenbeck; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Eloise is preceded in death by six siblings, Joanne (Jerry) Salisbury, Sally (Richard) Cherette, Robert (Mary) Grimes, Daniel (Leslie) Grimes, Nancy McGregor and Mary Schierenbeck; and a brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Terry Nesbit, Adele Grimes, and Karyl Grimes.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home, 901 Carpenter Ave., with Pastor Paul Agenten officiating the funeral service at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eloise’s name to benefit the Dickinson County Cancer Closet.
