Marie A. Vassar

She was born Aug. 10, 1939, in Iron River to Charles and Martha (Koehn) Winkel. She married Paul Vassar and he preceded her in death in 1975.

Marie loved the U.P., the outdoors and going to the casino but most of all she loved her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Charles Vassar; her brother, James Winkel; grandchildren Brandon, Michael, Michelle, Damian, Isaiah; and one great grandchild.

Along with her parents and husband, Marie was preceded in death by her infant son, Scott Lee Vassar; brothers Ronald and Bobby Winkel; and her sister, Elaine Dobson.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 28, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Nash Funeral Home in Crystal Falls. Memorial services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dan Waters officiating.
