George D’Amour

LA CONNER, Wash. — George William D’Amour, 79, of La Conner, Wash., passed away peacefully on Monday, July 28, 2025, at his home.

He was born on Aug. 3, 1945, in Milwaukee, the beloved son of the late Dr. William and Pricilla D’Amour.

George graduated from Kingsford High School in 1963, receiving a bachelor’s degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wis., and a master’s degree in psychology from the University of South Dakota.

George joined the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged as the Missile Launch Officer 1st Lieutenant at Grand Forks Air Force Base in North Dakota. After being discharged, he lived most of his life in the Seattle, Wash., area.

He owned and operated a child development center for many years. He then worked for and retired from the Seattle Transportation Department.

George will be remembered for his curiosity for the truth and beauty of nature.

He enjoyed dancing, hiking, biking, and especially photography. He was dedicated to to his faith.

He is survived by his children, Jason (Angelica) Winbourn and Brooke D’Amour. He also leaves behind his granddaughter, Sophia Winbourn; siblings Mary (Bill) Parpore, John (Nancy) D’Amour, Rosemary (Lee) Manner, and Dr. Robert (Maria) Amour; and his dear friend and companion, Linda; and their dog, Bella.

In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by his brother, Ken D’Amour.
