Joyce Yuhasey

IRON MOUNTAIN — Joyce Marie Yuhasey, 95, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2025, at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers.

She was born in Iron Mountain on March 7, 1930, daughter of the late Frederick and Clair (Cameron) Carlson. Joyce was a lifelong Iron Mountain resident and graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1948.

Just two years later, on Oct. 7, 1950, she married Guy Yuhasey. They shared 70 beautiful years together before Guy preceded her in death on Oct. 17, 2020.

Joyce was a full-time homemaker who showed her love by taking care of the home, supporting the needs and interests of her children and making wonderful home-cooked meals and baked goods for family and friends. Every summer she would support Guy’s passion for his garden and spend many, many hours watering, weeding, and then picking, freezing, canning and pickling their harvest, always sharing the final results with the people important in her life.

Joyce was an active, longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Iron Mountain. The special friendships and activities with several church circles meant the world to her. Joyce was always there to provide whatever was needed for a bazaar, memorial meal or special event.

Joyce is survived by her two sons, Tom (Jodi) Yuhasey and David Yuhasey; three grandchildren, Scott, Evan and Joshua (Jenny); two great-grandchildren, Joyce and Jayne; two brothers, Gary (Kay) Carlson and John (Sue) Carlson; sister-in-law Ruth Carlson; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Joyce is preceded in death by granddaughter Bethany Yuhasey-Nelson; daughter-in-law Mary Yuhasey; two sisters, Elaine (Donald) Yuhasey and Shirley (Joseph) Hayes; and two brothers, Frederick Carlson and Douglas Carlson.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25, at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home, 901 Carpenter Ave. Please join us for the memorial service at 11 a.m. led by the Rev. Crystal Thomas. Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.

Special thanks to the staff and volunteers at Pinecrest Medical Facility for care given to Joyce, to Ann Gurgall for always being available to answer questions and give support to far-away family and to Kelly Hayes with hospice for her guidance and gentleness.
