Debra A. Shamion

She was born on Aug. 17, 1956, in Stambaugh, the daughter of the late Stanley and Margaret (Menghini) Shamion. She attended West Iron County Schools.

Debra enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. Her animals were also important to her. Debra had a special bond with her sisters and enjoyed spending time with them.

Debra is survived by her daughters, Heather (Roman) Alexa of Iron River and Julie (Travis) Benchoff of Crystal Falls; grandchildren Alex, Amber, Ayden, Avery, Asher, Cole, Drew and Cami; great-grandchildren Jackson and Zayleigh; brothers Richard (Mary) Shamion and Ronnie (Peggy) Shamion, both of Iron River; sisters Loretta Janovicz of Kenosha, Wis., Sandra (Robert) Uren of Kenosha, Barbara (Richard) Odgers of Watseka, Ill.; sister-in-law Christine Shamion of Iron River; brother-in-law Daniel (Sandra) Pociopa of Munising; nieces; nephews; extended family; and friends.

She was also preceded in death by the father of her children, Jeffrey Pociopa; brother Jerry Shamion; and sister Beverly Modory.

Visitation will be held on Monday, Oct. 20, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m., with Pastor Mike Poindexter to officiate.

Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery.
