FELCH — Helmer F. Edberg, 88, of Felch, passed away Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025, at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility of Powers.
He was born on June 16, 1937, in Ralph, son of the late Helmer Y. and Kristina (Paulic) Edberg. Helmer was a graduate of Felch High School. After high school, Helmer attended Michigan State University; he then enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he became a B-52 commander. Helmer later rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel. He married Johney Snow on Dec. 17, 1959, in Jacksonville, Ark., and they have resided in Felch since 1989.
He is survived by his wife, Johney; two daughters, Vinvela (Randie) Jones of Merced, Calif. and Teri (Tom) Mattson of Quinnesec; one sister, Delorus Burton of Leland, Mich.; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, including KrissAnne (David) Dennocenzo and Billy (Kathy) Dean.
In addition to his parents, Helmer was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Lee Dean; and a brother-in-law, Kenny Dean.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Pinecrest, the staff at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center, Iron Mountain, as well as his special caregiver, Cindy Vuorinen, whom he loved like his own daughter.
