Joyce A. Shewmaker

Joyce was born on July 27, 1932, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Frank and Rose (Urban) Janeshek. A 1950 graduate of Iron Mountain High School and lifetime resident of the area, Joyce married Norman Shewmaker, who preceded her in death on April 5, 2008.

Joyce worked as an office clerk for a paper company before becoming a stay-at-home mother for her children. She loved going to the casino and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Iron Mountain.

Joyce is survived by her two children, Jeffrey (Mary) Shewmaker of Phoenix, Ariz., and Debra (Glen) Barna of Houghton; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Roger) Welsch, Eric (Jennifer) Shewmaker, Charles Barna and Samantha Barna; and three great-grandchildren, Cameron, Samantha and Vivian Rose. She is also survived locally by nieces, Virginia West, Shelly Petrick, and Judy Johnson; and nephews, Ron (Karla) LaDuron, Terry LaDuron, and Jerry Janeshek.

Along with her parents and husband, Norman, Joyce is preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.

Private family services will be held.
