Kevin G. Richtig

IRON MOUNTAIN — Kevin G. Richtig, 53, lost his very courageous battle with cancer on Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. We are grateful he is now at peace and in the loving arms of the Lord, where he is no doubt putting on one heck of a rock show.

Kevin was born on Oct. 21, 1971, in Iron Mountain. He grew up and loved lake life on Lake Ellwood in Spread Eagle, Wis. He was a proud 1990 graduate of Florence High School.

Kevin held many careers over his life. He was a fantastic radio DJ, car salesman, distributor for Bloom Wholesale, Ski-Ters announcer and most recently a postal carrier for the postal service.

Kevin was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and truly cherished the games he attended with his sister, as well as the draft in Green Bay in April. He was at his last Packers game a month ago with his friend, Merkel.

Kevin was always the life of any party, and his love for all things, music and guitar will be what most will remember him for. He played in several bands over the years and entertained this community proudly. He knew he was the best guitar player around. His smile, positive attitude and loving spirit were certainly infectious and will live on.

He did have a greater love than music and that was for his daughter, Sophia, and his close family and friends. Kevin had too many friends to mention, and his family is eternally grateful for them.

Kevin is survived by his precious Bird, Sophia Richtig of Iron Mountain; his parents, Gary and Jeannine Richtig of Kingsford; his sister, Teresa (Rick) Chrisman and his special nephews, Carson and Connor and niece, Kelsi Chrisman, all of Aurora Wis.; stepdaughter Hailee LaVarnway of Kingsford; many loving aunts, uncles and cousins; and his loving best friend and companion, his dog, Lucy.

He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Harry and Ida Rochon; and paternal grandparents, Valentine and Cecilia Richtig.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 15, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Mike Chenier presiding. A luncheon and Celebration of Kevin’s life will follow at the C&R in Aurora, Wis.

In lieu of flowers, the family will be accepting donations in Kevin’s memory.

Condolences to the family of Kevin Richtig may be expressed online at www.ernashfuneralhomes.com.
