Lucy Brown

She was born on Nov. 29, 1938, in Wauseon, Ohio, to the late Charles and Ruby (Earick) Miller.

Lucy was a 1956 graduate of Morenci High School in Morenci, Mich., and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Eastern Michigan University.

On June 30, 1957, she married Ronald E. Brown in Morenci, beginning a loving partnership that spanned 68 years. Lucy dedicated 30 years of her career to the Wayne-Westland School District as an elementary school teacher, retiring in 1989. Her passion for education touched countless young lives.

An accomplished seamstress, Lucy found joy in quilting and weaving, generously donating many of her beautiful creations to charity. She cherished spending winters in Arizona with her husband, Ron. Lucy held weekly family dinners and gatherings close to her heart. Her warmth and creativity were a gift to all who knew her.

Lucy is survived by her devoted husband, Ron Brown; her two daughters, Devona Brown (Todd Seppi) and Rhonda (Dan) Carey, both of Iron Mountain; and her four grandchildren, Zakariah Blackmon, and Nathaniel, Myles, and Gabrielle Carey.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Mary Jane Russell.
