KINGSFORD — Marlene Ann Ciochetto, 91, of Kingsford, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2025, at home with her family by her side.
She was born on July 16, 1934, in Iron Mountain, to the late Axel and Erma (Zambon) Peterson.
She was a member of American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford. She enjoyed many hobbies, including knitting, crocheting, dancing, line dancing, listening to various styles of music, and playing board games with her friends and family. Both her son Jeff and daughter-in-law Lorena always had to bring their guitars along when they came to visit her and Joe to serenade them.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Ciochetto; sons Jeffery (Lorena) LeClaire, and Michael (Anna) LeClaire; daughter Shelley (Douglas) LaCount; and sister Bonnie Antonetti; three grandchildren, Darcy Fischer, Kevin LeClaire, Daniel LeClaire; stepgrandson Victor DeLeon; and three great-grandchildren, Aleczander Fischer, Maxton Fischer, and Emma LeClaire,
She is additionally survived by her three stepchildren, Susan (Jeffrey) Hirsch, Joseph C. (Lu Ann) Ciochetto, and James (Christine) Ciochetto; sisters-in-law Kay LeClaire and Cheryle LeClaire Fredrickson; and three stepgrandchildren, Kyle Larson, Trisha Kintgen, and Sarah Larson, along with their families.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond LeClaire Jr., with whom she was married for 29 years; brother Robert Peterson; and sister Joyce Hassell.
Marlene worked for many years at Champion, Kresge’s, and retired as the assistant director of the Canteen at the Iron Mountain VA hospital.
We would like to thank her family doctor, Dr. Funtanilla, for the professional care given to her over the years. Also, our sincere gratitude to the wonderful staff from the hospice team who tended to her needs at home during her final month as part of the hospice program. Every member of that staff was a blessing to our family as she enjoyed every visit from them.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16, at Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Prayers will be recited at 10:30 a.m., at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at American Martyrs Catholic Church, 908 W. Sagola Ave., Kingsford, MI 49802. A luncheon will be held immediately after Mass in the church basement. The burial will proceed to the Quinnesec cemetery after the luncheon at 1:30 p.m.
