Marshall Seawright

ESCANABA — Marshall Clinton Seawright, 79, of Escanaba (Soo Hill), passed away peacefully Monday evening, Oct.6, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba, with his family by his side.

Marshall was born Sept. 18, 1946, in Cairo, Ill., the son of Arlie and Eloeise (Hogue) Seawright Jr. He was raised and attended school in Cairo, graduating in 1964.

In 1967, several years after graduation, Marshall enlisted in the United States Navy Submarine Service and would spend the next 20 years building his Naval career. As Marshall continued his career in the Navy, he attended and graduated from the University of South Carolina with a bachelor of business degree. He furthered his career by attending Officer Candidate School and was commissioned in 1975 as an ensign.

While attending Officer Candidate School, Marshall met his future wife and love, Lori Isaacson. The couple were united in marriage on Dec. 18, 1976, at the First Lutheran Church in Gladstone and spent 48 wonderful years together. During their years in the Navy, Marshall and Lori began their family by giving birth to three children.

Marshall retired at the rank of lieutenant in 1987. Together, Marshall and Lori eventually made their home in Soo Hill where they continued to raise their family. Marshall was employed at Bay de Noc Community College for many years. He taught electronics and several related classes, finally retiring in 2006. In his free time, Marshall enjoyed umpiring baseball and softball.

Marshall was a member of First Lutheran Church in Gladstone and will be deeply missed by his loving family.

In addition to his wife Lori, Marshall is survived by children Clinton (Amelia) Seawright, Mathew (Karri) Seawright, Kerstin (Shane) Trulock; grandchildren Werner, Adelle and Annette Seawright, Alexis (David) Dubord, and Hailee Seawright, Christopher, McKenna, Noah, Thomas and Greyson Trulock.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arlie and Eloeise; and his maternal grandparents, Clyde and Audrey Hogue.

The Seawright family will receive friends on Tuesday, Oct. 14, from 10 a.m. to noon at the First Lutheran Church in Gladstone. Funeral services will follow visiting hours, at noon on Tuesday at the First Lutheran Church in Gladstone, with Pastor Elisabeth Daniels officiating. Luncheon will follow in the First Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall.

Marshall will be laid to rest with military honors in the Fernwood Cemetery at 3 p.m.
