Rick Roland Bailey

KINGSFORD — Rick Roland Bailey, 78, of Kingsford, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2025, in the comfort of his own home.

He was born in Ann Arbor on Sept. 28, 1946, son of the late Robert and Inger (Pedersen) Bailey. Right out of high school, Rick enlisted with the U.S. Navy, serving three years during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on Aug. 25, 1967, receiving several commendations. After his service in the Navy, Rick started his lifelong career with the Ford Motor Company.

Rick’s many joys of life were his love of his country, music, riding his motorcycle, and telling a good story. His love of country was evident not only in his service during wartime but in his work with veterans and as a combat veteran. With his high energy and harmonica in hand, “Sugar White” or “Bluesman” would steal the stage as a passionate member of the “Sons of Legend”/”Red, White & Blues Band.” Rick was also a dedicated member of the LongRiders M/C and was always up for a ride. Whether it be at a concert, at the clubhouse or just out on the town, many were captured by Rick’s stories and his great sense of humor. His friendship and authenticity will be deeply missed.

Rick leaves behind his life partner, Linda Granquist; two daughters, Traci Sullivan and Teri Ercoli; two granddaughters, Maya and Serena Jenson; brother Wayne Bailey; Linda’s daughter, Christy Mitchem; feline companion Sidvicious “Sid” Bailey; and many close relatives and friends that became his family.

Please join us to celebrate Rick’s life starting at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 12, at the LongRiders M/C Clubhouse, 772 Boyle Drive in Kingsford, with full military honors at 3 p.m.
