NORWAY — Bethany Joy Edlund, 18, of Norway, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2025, in her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on July 2, 2007, in Milwaukee, daughter of Jon and Sonya Edlund. She spent her first two months of life in the NICU at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where she recovered successfully from a diaphragmatic hernia repair. She had lifelong struggles with feeding intolerance and systemic pain. She was blessed to receive special education services and therapy at home (due to medical fragility) from the DIISD.

Bethany was a joy to all who had the privilege of knowing her and helping her. She brought cheer and hope to many by her beautiful smiles and bravery through many difficult and painful medical situations. She had a great sense of humor and had so much love to share with those around her. She loved her special “Bear-Bear” and watching shows on her iPad and FaceTiming her family and special friends.

Bethany is survived by her parents, Jon and Sonya Edlund; her three amazing brothers, Jonathan (Lauren) Edlund of Appleton, Wis., Andrew (Ibiye) Edlund of Appleton, Zachary (Lisa) Edlund of Appleton; a grandfather, Norman Johnson of Iron Mountain; a grandmother, Dorothy Edlund of Norway; two nieces, Eliana Edlund and Harmony Sanchez; four nephews, Ryder Edlund, Enzo Edlund, Henry Edlund, and Angel Sanchez; her two uncles, Dr. Eric Johnson (Dr. Laura Holcomb) of Oakland, Maine, and Aaron (Cari) Johnson of Ironton, Minn.; an aunt, Lynn (Kirk) Seaman of Gladstone; and seven cousins. She also had many special friends who played integral roles in her life.

Bethany was preceded in death by her grandmother, Sonja Johnson; and her grandfather, Raymond Edlund.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Nov. 29, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Redemption Hill in Kingsford. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Pastor Alex Tunnicliff will officiate. Burial will be at the Norway Cemetery.
