IRON MOUNTAIN — Fay Eunice Steinbeck, 80, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Friday, Nov. 14, 2025, at Freeman Nursing and Rehabilitation Community in Kingsford, with her husband by her side.
She was born on May 8, 1945, in Norway, the daughter of the late Eval and Eunice (Fazer) Faccio. Fay was raised in Hermansville and attended Hermansville High School.
On Aug. 4, 2007, she married Duane Steinbeck in Waucedah. Throughout her life, Fay owned and operated The Newsstand and Coffee Shop in Iron Mountain, worked at Pipkorn Mink Ranch in Powers, served as a respiratory therapy assistant at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital, waitressed at various restaurants, and worked in retail at the Stephenson Marketing Co-Op C-Store in Powers.
She loved golfing, fishing, riding Harley-Davidsons, singing karaoke, playing cards, spending summers with her grandchildren, and wintering in Florida. Above all, she cherished time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Duane Steinbeck; daughter LaDina (Aaron) Zietlow; stepdaughter Amy (Nick) Blohowiak; former daughter-in-law Najat Degenaer; grandchildren Omar Degenaer (and former wife Tracey Degenaer), Jasmine Holloman, Tyler Perrault, Paige (Peter) Ellis, Gabrielle and Aaron Blohowiak; great-grandchildren Amina and Amiyah Holloman, Delaney and Dominic Degenaer, Emma Perrault, and Kaliah Ellis; sister Raeanne (Patrick) Mattson; brother Timothy (Roseanne) Faccio; aunt Marvel Beauchamp; brother-in-law Dennis (Diane) Steinbeck; sisters-in-law Mary Faccio, Lori Steinbeck, and Lioba Steinbeck; best friend and former husband Delbert Degenaer, along with Kathy Sayles and Darlene Hayes; and many other beloved family members and friends.

Fay was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents; son Scott Degenaer; brother Roger Faccio Sr.; sisters-in-law Bonnie Hoskins and Susan Faccio; nephew Jimmy Faccio; niece Melissa Faccio; great-nephew Michael “Squiggy” Fox; father-in-law David Steinbeck; mother-in-law Elizabeth VanGyseghem; brothers-in-law David Steinbeck and Daniel Steinbeck; many other relatives; and her beloved fur baby, Bootsie.
Per Fay’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. A Celebration of Life will be held at the State Street Venue at 1649 State St. (Co Road 573) in Loretto, from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2026.
The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Beth Schroeder, Dr. Umang Gautam, and their staff, as well as the staff at Freeman Nursing and Rehabilitation Community, for the compassionate care they provided to Fay.
