Norman T. Marcell

IRON RIVER — Norman T. Marcell, 82, of Iron River, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025.

He was born on Sept. 15, 1943, in Stambaugh, the son of the late Norman and Evelyn (Applin) Marcell. Norman attended the Stambaugh Schools and graduated with the Class of 1962.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. After returning from the service, he earned his diesel mechanic certification from Michigan Technological University in 1969.

Norman married Sandra Fultz on March 9, 1966, in Baltimore, Md. The couple celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary this year.

He was employed as a diesel mechanic at White Pine Copper Mine and later worked at ACE Hardware for many years. Norman was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River. He enjoyed spending time with family and telling stories, playing cards and board games and playing the guitar a little. Norman was an avid fisherman and liked bird and deer hunting. He liked sharing his knowledge and teaching skills, such as automotive work to simply tying on a fishhook. Norman also enjoyed cooking and grilling.

Norman is survived by his wife, Sandra; son, Bill Marcell of Weston, Wis.; daughters Susan (Johnny) Maki of Iron River and Donelle Marcell of Stambaugh; brother William (Stephanie) Marcell of Aztec, N.M.; sisters Mary Kay Shepich of Caspian and Beth (Jim) Willis of Dixie, Ga.; grandchildren Nikki (Mike) Mitchell, Michael (Candace) Marcell, Cody (Katelyn Major) Maki, Christopher (Lexi) Maki, Cassidy (Logan) Long, and Skye Marcell; great-grandchildren Evelyn and Everett Mitchell; nieces; nephews; extended family; and friends.

He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Roland “Lefty,” Frederick, Don and Edward Marcell.

Private family services will be held.
