Roxanne Anderson

QUINNESEC — Roxanne Alice Anderson, 93, of Quinnesec, passed into the fullness of eternal life with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, Nov. 21, 2025.

Born in Norway to Harry and Lillian (Voight) Larsen on Aug. 22, 1932, she graduated from Kingsford High School in 1950. In 1953, Roxanne received her nursing degree from Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo, Mich. Also in 1953 she married her high school sweetheart, Donald Hager Anderson, and they became parents of three sons, Kevin, Brian and Glenn. As the wife of a Michigan state trooper, Roxanne lived in various parts of the state; raising their three sons was of paramount importance to her.

Her love of music led her to study voice and singing in various choral groups and church choirs. Roxanne and Hager were cross country skiers, which was the only sport she excelled in.

In 1981, Roxanne and newly retired Hager moved from lower Michigan back to her family house near Fumee Lake. She enjoyed gardening, singing in community chorus and community concerts and participating in church activities. She taught children’s Sunday School for 22 years at Redemption Hill Church, as well as chaired the prayer chain and mission committee.

Roxanne fulfilled a childhood dream of visiting far away lands. She made seven trips to Europe, including a ski trip to the country of Norway.

Her deep love of nature, created by God, led her to hold dear these lines by the English poet Samuel Coleridge, “So I will build my altar in the fields, and the blue sky my fretted dome shall be, and the sweet fragrance that the wildflower yields, shall be the incense I will yield to Thee.”

Roxanne is survived by her three sons, Kevin (Lynn) and Brian (Vickie) of Quinnesec and Glenn (Kathie) of New Gloucester, Maine; eight grandchildren, David, Amie, Daniel, Julie, Jenee, Derek, John and Aaron; and 18 great grandchildren.

In Roxanne’s memory, those wishing to do so may make a donation to Campus Crusade for Christ (Cru) or Redemption Hill Missions program.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 1, at Redemption Hill Church, 332 S. Carpenter Ave., Kingsford, with Pastor Alex Tunnicliff officiating the funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will be at the Quinnesec Cemetery.
