David E. Johnson

IRON MOUNTAIN — David E. Johnson, 72, of Iron Mountain, passed away unexpectedly at his home of natural causes on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2025.

He was born on May 20, 1953, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Emil and Blanche (Fayas) Johnson.

David graduated from North Dickinson County School in Felch Township. He married Patricia Schettler on Nov. 10, 1979, at the former Immanuel Baptist Church in Kingsford.

A lifelong resident of the area, David worked as a field mechanic and machinery technician for M.J. Electric in Iron Mountain for 34 years. In retirement, he loved doing small engine repairs. He spent many hours working in his shop, fixing and repairing lawn mowers and snow blowers. He was the type of guy who was always there to help anyone in need and thoroughly enjoyed the relationships he built in doing so. He also cherished morning coffee at the shop with his friends and watching family members race at the Norway Speedway.

David attended church at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Norway. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Patricia; siblings, Marvin (Charlene) Johnson, Barbara (Marvin) Casperson and Karen (Ron) Johnson; sisters-in-law, Paula Johnson and Beverly (Philip) Zollner; brother-in-law, Jack (Chris) Schettler; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Johnson; and his in-laws, Blanche and Raymond Schettler.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 19, from 9:30 a.m. until noon at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Norway. A funeral service will follow at noon at the church, with the Rev. James Danielson officiating.

Burial will be in the Quinnesec Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideons International or the Almost Home Animal Shelter.
