Dorothe S. Sleik

Dorothe was born on July 17, 1940, in Kingsford, the daughter of the late George and Dorothe (Jordon) Paige. On Oct. 19, 1984, Dorothe joined hands in marriage with Gary Sleik. They spent the next 41 years sharing their home in Merriman.

Dorothe was a big Green Bay Packers fan, but an even bigger Brett Favre fan. She was a huge music fan and also loved to read. Dorothe enjoyed knitting until her hands no longer allowed her to do so. Spending time with family and friends was her favorite pastime.

Dorothe is survived by her husband, Gary Sleik of Iron Mountain; sons Robert (Becky) Maynard of Manistique, Rodney (Marcy) Maynard of Gladstone, Jeff (Selina) Maynard of Summerfield, Fla., Mark (Amy) Sleik of Kingsford, and Dave (Sandy) Sleik of Iron Mountain; daughters Holly Maynard of Crystal Falls, Wendy (Dino) Sleik of Iron Mountain, and Sherry (Brooke) Huettl of Iron Mountain. Dorothe is also survived by her 22 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Dorothe was preceded in death by a son, Brian Scott Maynard; and sisters Barbara Steaven and Ruthie Kramer.

There will be a Celebration of Life this summer to honor Dorothe’s memory.
