Thomas Hadley

He was born June 13, 1968, in Hayward, Wis., the son of the late Frank and Patricia (Conklin) Hadley. Tom grew up in Crystal Falls, where he graduated from Forest Park High School in 1987. He had an outstanding football career as a defensive player and received All U.P. Football Team honors.

He attended Gogebic College, Northern Michigan University and Kalamazoo Regional Academy, where he achieved his degree in law enforcement. He was recognized as an expert marksman and for his dedication to the citizens he served. His career included being a police officer at Hannahville Tribal Police Department and 25 years as an Iron River Police Officer. After retirement he worked as an investigator for Iron Defense.

Tom loved riding his motorcycles, he enjoyed ice fishing, nature, wildlife and had a soft spot for his puppy, Hutch. As a child he would live-trap mice and take them across the Paint River and set them free. He was a music buff and shared that with friends and family. He loved his family and friends and was proud of his daughter, Paige. He spent his life on the Paint River, where he cherished each day. The one thing we will all miss about him is his infectious laugh.

He is survived by his daughter, Paige; brother James Hadley; sisters Susan Hadley (Dan Kivimaki), Ann Berard (Jack Sullivan), Nancy Hadley; stepbrother and stepsister Greg and Janey Totsch; nieces and nephews Jason, Jenny, Zach, Brandon, Graham, Ashley, Aaron, Sam, Sydney, Sarah, Jacob, Jessica; and 27 great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, F. Michael Hadley.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, at Nash Funeral Home, 104 N. Third St., Crystal Falls. A memorial service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Vicki Prewitt officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Northwoods Animal Shelter.
