Martha Smukowski

She was born on Feb. 20, 1939, daughter of the late Edward and Elda (Orr) Guth in Petersburg, Ind.

Martha graduated from Kingsford High School in 1956 and married Ray Raiche on June 16 that same year. He preceded her in death in 2013.

Martha was very artistic and enjoyed sewing, quilting, and crafting. She loved her flowers and bird watching from her kitchen window. Martha was a fantastic baker and especially liked a good game of cards. Above all else, she loved her family dearly.

Martha is survived by her husband, Thomas Smukowski, whom she married in 2017; a son, Terry (Nancy) Raiche; a daughter, Patti (Mark) Bellmore; six grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving are two brothers.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim and David Guth; and a sister, Lois Maynard.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 14, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Norway. A memorial service will follow at 5 p.m. at the church. The Rev. Dr. Michael Langlais will officiate. A luncheon will be served after the service in the church hall.
