Robert Toretta

NORWAY — Robert Paul Toretta, 81, of Norway, passed away Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025, at Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson in Iron Mountain.

He was born on Jan. 3, 1944, son of the late Humbert and Alva (Bostrom) Toretta. Robert graduated from Sault Area High School in 1962 and graduated from Davenport University in 1964.

Upon graduation he worked at the local grocery stores Piggly Wiggly, TorVan and Red Owl and eventually went on and owned and operated City Limits Grocery and Cabins (the home of the Three Mile Smile) in Sault Ste Marie, where he raised his six children.

After selling the business in 1984, Robert relocated to Norway, where he worked at various places including Lakeside Builders, LaFreniere Motor Company and Auto Value Parts Store before retiring.

Robert was known for his sense of humor and always had a smile on his face.

He was a devoted Packers fan.

Loved it when his family was gathered around, going to dinner at Romagnoli’s and enjoyed cooking, especially risotto. He could also whip up one great tasting Bloody Mary.

He leaves behind his six children, daughter Carrie (Burt) Partello and their children, Courtney and Alexis; daughter Kathy (John Cescolini) Bubloni and her children, Amanda (Jacob) Gatien — Easton, Tucker and Lily Gaiten, Marcus (Cassie) Bubloni — Emma, Carson and Cole Bubloni, Makenzie (Jalen) Bubloni — Beckham and Ilia, and Amara (Logan) Schewe; son Paul (Cathy Bonneau) Toretta; daughter, Anne (Mel Kallenbach Jr.) LaBelle and her children, Jessica (Alex) Dessellier — Parker and Bronson Dessellier, and Annika LaBelle; daughter Gina (Dean) Moraska and their son, Chase Moraska; and son Jim (Dionne) Toretta and their children, Olivia (Jordan) Jelinek — Jack and Jesse Toretta-Cooper; siblings Sally Gallimore, Carolyn Beacom and Bud (Sharon) Toretta; along with many special nephews and nieces.

Besides his parents, Robert was preceded in death by brothers-in-law David C. Beacom Jr. and Robert Gallimore.

A celebration of life for Robert will be held in the summer of 2026.
